Stacking Promotions

What Stacking Means

Stacking means applying a promotion to one side of a hedge while also benefiting from a promotion or favorable condition on the other side. Done correctly, stacking amplifies the total profit from a single pair of bets — sometimes significantly.

The most common form: you have a bonus bet at Book A and a profit boost token at Book B. Instead of using them on separate unrelated bets, you use them on opposite sides of the same game — so both promos apply to the same outcome.

Valid vs. Invalid Stacks

Not all stacking is valid. Some combinations are available; others violate promo terms or aren't mechanically possible.

Valid stacks

  • Bonus bet at Book A + profit boost token at Book B— Two different books, two different promo types, opposite sides. Both apply.
  • Odds boost at Book A + bonus bet at Book B— Place the boosted bet at Book A; use the bonus bet on the other outcome at Book B. Both promos contribute to the profit calculation.
  • Two independent recurring promos on opposite sides— If Book A and Book B both have active bonus bets and the terms don't restrict same-game hedging, you can deploy both on opposite sides of a two-outcome market.
  • Referral bonus at one book + normal cash at the other— Referral credit is typically unrestricted except for standard terms. Use it as the promo side; cash hedge at a second book.

Invalid stacks

  • Two bonus bets at the same book— You can only use one bonus bet per qualifying bet at a given book. Check the terms: most books explicitly state one bonus bet per game or per day.
  • Profit boost + bonus bet on the same side at the same book— Most books don't allow you to apply a profit boost token to a bet placed with a bonus bet. The promo can't stack on itself.
  • Two promos that have conflicting "no-hedge" clauses— Rare, but some promo terms include language prohibiting offsetting bets. Read the fine print.

A Worked Example: Correct Stack

Setup: $100 bonus bet at Book A (Team A side). $25 profit boost (25% boost) at Book B (Team B side). Market: Team A −110 / Team B −110.

Step 1: Calculate value of the bonus bet side (Book A)

$100 bonus bet at −110. If Team A wins: $90.91 profit (stake not returned).

Conversion at ~70%: ~$63.64 expected profit from this side alone.

Step 2: Apply profit boost at Book B

Hedge: $95 cash on Team B at −110. Normal profit if Team B wins: $86.36.

With 25% profit boost applied: $86.36 × 1.25 = $107.95 profit if Team B wins.

Step 3: Recalculate hedge for equalized outcome

The profit boost increases what Book B pays out if Team B wins. That changes the hedge math — you don't need as much cash on Team B to equalize. Use the PromoEdge calculator with both promos active to find the exact equalized stake.

Approximate result (unequalized)

If Team A wins: +$90.91 (bonus bet) − $95 (hedge stake) = −$4.09. Partial loss.

If Team B wins: +$107.95 (boosted profit) − $0 (bonus bet gone) = +$107.95.

After equalization: ~$40–$55 guaranteed regardless of outcome (varies with exact hedge stake).

The key insight: because the profit boost increases Book B's payout, you need a smaller hedge stake on Team B to equalize outcomes. The savings on the hedge stake directly add to your locked-in profit.

Recalculating the Hedge When Stacking

Every time a promo is added to one side, the hedge calculation changes. Do not use the same hedge stake you'd use for a one-promo bet:

  • Bonus bet at Book A only

Standard bonus bet hedge formula. Hedge stake covers only normal profit + potential bonus bet win.

  • Bonus bet at Book A + profit boost at Book B

Profit boost inflates Book B's payout. Hedge stake decreases. Guaranteed profit increases.

  • Bonus bet at Book A + odds boost at Book A

Usually not stackable (same book). If allowed, the higher odds increase Book A's potential win — re-run the calculation.

  • Two bonus bets (one per side)

Very favorable. Both sides pay only winnings if they win. Guaranteed profit is maximized. Run both bonus bet values through the calculator simultaneously.

The Golden Rule: Read Both Sets of Terms

Before executing a stack, read the promo terms at both books. Specifically:

  • Does either book prohibit "offsetting bets" or "lay bets" (unusual in US, but worth checking)?
  • Is the profit boost restricted to certain markets (e.g., NFL only)?
  • Does the bonus bet require straight bets only — and is your chosen market a straight bet?
  • Is there a combined max payout that would cap your winnings on the promo side?

When both terms are clear and compatible, stack confidently. When uncertain, use the more conservative interpretation — or only deploy one promo on the pair.
