How to Use a No Sweat Bet

What is a No Sweat Bet?
A No Sweat Bet (also called a "First Bet Insurance" or "Risk-Free Bet") works like this:
- You place a bet with your real money
- If you win, you get paid like a normal bet
- If you lose, the sportsbook refunds you as bonus bets
BetMGM offers up to $1,500 back. Caesars offers up to $1,000 back. These are among the most valuable signup offers available.
Important:
You get the refund as bonus bets, not cash. Bonus bets are worth about 60-70% of their face value when converted via hedging. So a $1,000 no sweat bet refund is worth about $600-700 in real cash after hedging.
The Strategy: Maximize Either Outcome
Since you get paid if you win OR get a refund if you lose, you want to:
- Place your no sweat bet on an outcome with decent odds
- Hedge a smaller amount on the other side at another book
- If your bet wins → you profit from both the bet win and lose less on hedge
- If your bet loses → you get a bonus bet refund, which you then hedge for guaranteed cash
Example: $1,000 No Sweat Bet at BetMGM
Setup:
• Bet $1,000 on Chiefs at -110 at BetMGM (no sweat bet)
• Bet $600 on Bills at +130 at FanDuel (your own money)
Chiefs Win:
Win ~$909 at BetMGM
Lose $600 at FanDuel
Profit: ~+$309
Bills Win:
Lose $1,000 → get $1,000 bonus bet back
Win $780 at FanDuel
Then hedge the $1,000 bonus bet → ~+$700
Net: ~+$480
Best case: ~$309 cash profit. Worst case: ~$480 after converting bonus bet. Not bad!
